I implore you, please just tell the agent! what's the worst that could happen! Don't be a wimp and pull the old 'hello, hello, if you can hear me I can't hear you' rubbish on your mobile.
I've just smashed my phone in a rage!
The guys on the bench aswell!

Maybe you didn't qualify the candidates well enough? No one would turn down a £500day interview if they were benched unless a) rate too low for the candidate, b) location no good, c) they didnt want to do the role in the first place.
From the sounds of things, "smashing your phone in a rage", you are certainly that type of pushy agent
2 more today! one illness and then wouldn't answer his phone (fine yesterday by the way)
and one, and I quote, 'can't be bothered, I'm going to hold out for something closer to home'
These are not desktop jobs either, these are £500+
my arms gone numb, am I having a stress related heart attack!
..Er, did it ever cross your mind to post the job details on here and ask people to PM you if interested? That might be a slightly more productive route than constantly breaking phones.
(Let me know if you need any more advice on "How to be a recruitment agent." The job's not that difficult... )

Perhaps that rate that you offered was not high enough / your cut was too high.

Never mind GNTS, I believe that you've found a home here...
People are much ruder to agents than they have been with you, I think they like you.
Now you'll just have to put up with a bit of rough and tumble with Dodgy Agent...

10) Clients who try to use the backdoor (if the agent has done a good job for you, let him be rewarded, PLEASE!)
Just had a friend go through that last one, if he told the agent that he'd taken a job elsewhere he'd get the job direct (permie role) saving the client a few grand.
Pretty underhanded, but no more underhanded than telling people the only way they can get a (fake) job is by providing (sales leads) references upfront. So **** you.
