getting myself worked up to the level that Northernlad regularly seems to, feels a little futile
The day after I post I feel the same to be honest

It's just my way off letting of steam, some people are calm and considerate, some off us let off both barrels. I enjoy a good heated opinionated discussion, thats life. If we all gave warm cuddles to the idiots there would be no incentive for them to think before they post and we would be knee deep in them. This is a public forum of faceless strangers so you are gonna get the full spectrum of opinions whether people like it or not.

True - and that was mine

I did squirm when I read the OP's post I admit. I haven't however been on the bench for as long as them, so don't know how far I would go in that position.

Then I'd say it can't have been anywhere near as rigorous as you seem to think.

          Just a cautionary tale.

I am currently working alongside a consultancy at clientoco.
The consultancy were recruiting for contractors in my area and asked me about a candidate as they saw we'd worked on the same project earlier this year. They showed me his CV. His short 6 week stint had become 6 months, the work he had claimed to have done bore no relation to what he did. His CV was binned by the consultancy.

I am honest on my CV and this little incident illustrates to me perfectly why I should be.
I'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

This is a different category altogether, called blatant stupididty. Unbelievable that he put this level of lies on a CV he knew was going back into the same client, surely he didn't know that ?

No it was a totally different client, he had no idea that I was there or that I would be shown his CV.

I've never had my CV checked out in ten years, and that includes SC.

Maybe I will get hauled across the hot coals by a vetting company for my next contract, and maybe I will 'tidy up' my CV beforehand... But there comes a point in time where even I cannot remember the correct dates and skill sets for some gigs. I've worked at companies and departments that don't exist any more, places overseas and for people I have long forgotten. Good luck to any vetting company digging though that heap!

                  It's not that rare.

I've heard that story from plenty of contractors.

In some cases the person lying has been caught out at interview.

WSS - that's why I would have to be pretty desperate to consider doing anything like that. It's a small world for us contractors!
