So what are the PCG proposing? The goverment brings in some mechanism to stop outsourcing?

Where do you drawn the line?Originally posted by malvolio View PostWhy not? Every other country in the EU has...
IT is a mixture of manufacturing and services, do we therefore say all manufacturing must now be done in the UK? Do we resurect British Layland and force everyone to buy one of their cars? Or do we say all services must now be done in the UK? Force every company in the world that wants to sell services in the UK to open a place here and staff it with british workers?
The big difference with us and the rest of the EU is that everyone in India will speak English, hardly anyone will speak German, French or Italian. Outsourcing will always be much bigger in the UK for that reason alone.
Your plans are total madness and they will just be laughed out of every party you approach as unworkable at best. The PCG just look like a bunch of raving commies and they don't even know it. They might as well just pack it in if they keep this up.Comment

The PCG don't have a clue; never have, never will. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

home office has already started taking measures to control volume of skilled migrants.. minimum Masters degree is a must for qualifying as a highly skilled migrant in th UK which has already made a major difference....
I dont see any sudden change in the situation in future as far as outsourcing is concerned..
the way all clothes, gadgets are anyway produced in countries like china, bangladesh, india by exporting the technology etc.. similarly there are some software companies here who get work done from subcontinent because they have strict guidelines, specifications and development framework in place.. its designed in such a way that no offshore worker can modify it or introduce his own code in the application.. All baseline framework code lies with the onsite team.. they just need some cheap headcount to use their framework and develop the application on top of it..
My thoughts may sound discouraging but time for a reality check and practical thinking.... clients are not doing anything illegal, probably unethical.. tomorrow if I start my own business, situation may let me think offshoring way.. cant guarantee..

Nothing was done 10 years ago and nothing will be done now, except further greasing of the outsourcing wheels. Make money while the sun shines, for tomorrow you die.
You never know though, the Tories may take a dim view of it.Comment

Another area of disgust is the way the government takes money and indebt students studying IT, while behind the scenes do their utmost to ensure those careers will never materialise. More openness is required; IT is doomed in the UK and no one should be left in any doubt about it, not least to the tune of tens of thousands of pounds.Originally posted by HairyArsedBloke View PostLeaving my argument that it is all far too late and should have been done five or six years ago for now.
Concentrating on the mico-economic issues as to whether any one company is saving money etc is not the correct issue. Those that need to be influenced are in government. They will retort that those issues are for individual companies and not for them to interfere. Which on the face of it is true, but this government will still do it if they can see a vote or two in it.
The argument should be of macro-economic issues concerning the country as a whole. The issue of job losses is one thing, but what about loss of skills and becoming dependant on external suppliers? Then there is the loss of tax revenue and pension contributions. Skilled people once made unemployed have greater trouble getting work that relatively lesser skilled ones so social security costs are greater. The general tendancy to import workers rather than hire and train locals may have a limited short term benefit to individual companies, but causes massive long term damage to the country as a whole. That is where the argument with government needs to be fought.Comment

I've just logged on to Conservatives.com and and using the 'Contact Us' option have asked what the Conservative parties views are on this issue.
If I get a reply I'll post it on here.

This has happened before and it failed. It will happpen after this one has failed and it will keep coming back all the time. Last time it took 2-3 years, this time it might take longer, but seeing how useless they are, it's going to happen.
Would you buy an Indian car? Or an Indian industrial machine? Or even a freaking electrical screwdriver designed by an Indian firm?
Whatever the reason is, their engineering is just not up to scratch.
All the Indians in our team worship the ground we walk on. They can see how much better we are at solving issues, but they are just not.
The only thing they are is cheap and in IT, buying cheap means throwing money out the window.
RBS will realise this sooner than you guys think.Comment

You can't compare mechanical, labour intensive work to software-engineering. The latter is an innovative process. Show me innovation coming out of China or India.Originally posted by ParryBrookes View Postthe way all clothes, gadgets are anyway produced in countries like china, bangladesh, india by exporting the technology etc..Comment
