as long as everyone has enough to get themselves by in this difficult time, that is the most important...
I wasn't "sweating the responses" but I can see that it looked that way.

Agreed about everyone making it through this period.

You're usually ok after 12 weeks although problems can occur at any time. Your wife needs to take folic acid for the 1st 12 weeks. She'll get the 1st ultrasound around about the 13th week and another at the 20th week. My wifes in her 26th week now.

HOT, you live on a different 'ing planet!!

£1300 PCM with no car? Left home at 18, have £310k reserve cash. Buy some fecking property whilst its cheap, don't waste your money in a bank man!

I have about 2 months grace if I lose my job, and insurances to cover major outgoings (mortgage, car).

Only been contracting again 18months so not had the opportunity to gather my £300k together ;-)

ClientCo has just cut contractor rates by 10% as well, so saving almost going to be a no go now ;(

            adamv6,

My last contract was 16 months and before that I was permie so there's no excuse Just kidding before someone jumps down my throat - I know everyone's circumstances are different.

As for property, I don't want to get into this topic but it is still grotesquely over-valued by any sensible measure. It will take another 2-3 years to bottom out (in real terms rather than nominal).

Kinda agree with that, it`s definately not going to suddenly rise anyhow.
However, consider investing in some good companies for the long term. Going by your posts it looks like you`ve been burned a few times on shares (as have I and many others I`m sure), but investing is a long term venture. It`s so easy to lose money and then give up. Anyone who decides to invest any money in the stock market should do with longer term plans.
Someof the divi`s on offer at the moment are great!
