Dodgy Agents - Time to fight back?

Ok so we've all had experiences of Dodgy Agents and fake jobs but most of the time we do nothing except make a mental note to avoid agency in the future.

Last week I decided I'd had enough of one particular agency and the fake jobs they so say put me forward for, so I made a formal complaint which is now being investigated. (There is more to it than that and unfortunately for them I have all the evidence in emails but don't want to disclose more whilst its under investigation)

I know it might seem mad but I have no intention of dealing with the agency (unless they prove me wrong ) but it made me feel better and even if they only get a slapped wrist they might think twice about it in the future.

Has anyone else ever done anything like this? Should we as contractors be doing more of this?

Who is doing the investigating into the agency?

At this stage it has to be done by the company and in this case its being done by the Director. Should it not be dealt with satisfactorily then it's progressed through the Government agency.

I doubt it will change much but they have been incredibily unethicial and broken a few laws from what I can tell so I thought it was worth a try.

So the agency are investigating themselves. Best of luck.

Nothing is going to happen ,even though the Director will politically distance themselves saying we will not tolerate this in their organisation you have to remember it is them who are setting those type of KPIs for the consultant in the first place. by reporting them to their boss is giving them a glowing reference the consultant is doing their job.. yeah your right it sucks..

The only thing that can be done is simple Name and Shame and not just the agency name the actual agent himself with all details so that any other contractor who gets a contract from the agency can say to them "I wish to be represented by someone else from the agency not him/her" and if they ask why then just point them to the thread that named and shamed. You watch it wont take long for the word to get about...

I'm not holding my breath thinking anything will change or be done about it, but I'm a strong believer in don't moan and do nothing I figured it was worth a try even if all I achieve is them never contacting me again I will be better off.

What govenment agency would you expect to do this?

With experience is that the directors of these dodgy agents encourage poor behaviour and that there is no control on them

They are a registered agency and I got the email address from the fairly recent news story on the BBC.

I don't doubt the director will do nothing but try and say the right things, I also don't doubt that the Government agency will do nothing but as I say if I achieve nothing other than not having to talk to the Creep again I'll be happy.

Once I've been down the official route and achieved nothing I will definitely name and Shame on here.

All contractors should know what to expect from recruiters, it is annoying, but it is part of the game really.

Can I suggest that you grow a pair?
