      Jobsite is pants for DOB.

They put it in your cover letter when agents pull you CV from them (you need to enter it for registration purposes).

I knocked 10 years off my age when I registered...

If anyone asks I'll tell them that I never put my real age on any registration for identity fraud purposes and what the **** are Jobtulipe doing handing over private information????

I would have told them my real age in the interview...

The contract is for an investment bank but the whole process is outsourced to and managed by Hays although I came through a different agency.

usually I would not agree to all this but in these market conditions and after a few months on the bench I had no choice

ElanIt also insist on the above

There are other agencies apart from Hays and if every agency insisted on contractors going to their nearest office to present their passport before every interview, the planet would get considerably warmer and (more seriously) there'd be millions of copies of passports floating around completely out of the control of their owners.

          .....
... and a rogue agent can fiddle with your identity anywhere anytime. Any jargon i can throw at these fackers to keep them at bay, if they insist even after i get a contract?

Get a solicitor to certify that they have seen your passport in your posession. Pay them £10* for the privilege. Send a copy of their stamped affadavit to the pimp. Job done. Repeat as required (although probably need an annual update!)

That's actually a more secure and genuine form of ID than any copy will ever be, plus you don't have to send anyone anything.

*actually, thats a fiver for the brief and a fiver to me...

Been at my current client nearly 3 years now and about 6months ago, one of the HR permies started asking for my nI number. Told them as I work for my own company its **** all to do with them.

They replied they 'need' the NI number so they can track all contractors. I just refused to give it to them. They asked again about 3 months ago saying it was for an internal audit but I just ignored their request again.

Havent asked me for it again todate so they've either got it from somewhere else or they've given up!

FYI - and likely connected to my post above - my profile on LinkedIn was checked out by someone at Kroll in the last couple of days.

                    Hmm.

Still in Google and Yahoo caches.

Also, article in the Guardian from 2005.

You right-ish-wing libertarians, don't ignore the Guardian: it has a lot of left-ish-wing libertarian stuff. It's the same liberty at risk and it needs all the help it can get.
