    Current state of market?

    Hi all,

I have been out of the market for about 15 months now since the illness and death of a loved one - I am thinking of getting back into the game now and was wondering if people can let me know what the state of the market is?

Is there work out there? Or has all the banking and other company slow-downs in the South East destroyed the contracting market? Are there hundreds going after roles or is there still work out there?

    Thanks,

    PCUK.

    Oh Dear..

I would suggest reading a few of the more recent threads like this one...

The clue is in the title....

They market is very grim at the moment. I'm not even sure that it qualifies for the word market, because this would require both buyers and sellers.

The picture according to this website is not very pretty:

That suggests to me that things are now much as they were in 2002 and 2003. I know people that didn't work for twelve months or longer during that period, and others who ended up going permie.

                i'd say it's getting better.

i am getting calls and e-mails about contracts that seem genuine. some of them are even naming the clients.

2 months ago was getting nothing.

I'm getting nothing still, I'm willing to do more junior work on much reduced rate rather than nothing but agents take one look at my CV and think 'he'll be off should something better come along'... which is true I suppose.

I agree - it might help if the OP said what it is they actually do?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus
