Judging by the number of similar ads on the job sites, there must be an awful lot of pimps that can't be serious.

I might ring them up and say that £130-£160 would be acceptable as my hourly rate...

This happened a lot in the last mini downturn around 2002.

The two main causes then were agencies trying to retain 70% of the client budget or the job is being advertised at a derisory rate as it has already been earmarked for someone coming in from India.

Perhaps they missed a 'k' off the salary quoted.

Stupid people like me have started to apply for roles like this!

I see 'Business Analyst' closely followed by '£150 per day' and I think, "Ooooh Junior role I can blag cos I done GAP analysis as a favour once Guv..."

Surprisingly I've had not one call regarding any of these roles yet

                £160/day = £40K /year

Probably hoping to dupe some poor permie who's just been laid off.

Not through PAYE/Umbrella it's not.. which is the most likely route for any poor laid-off permie.
