Yeah it's more like 35K after employers etc (i assume 260 working days in one year)

Which is a 'decent' salary (above average anyway).

what they will more likely get is a good admin person who can run a meeting and take minutes, keep project paperwork up to date and kiss some azz.

But they will not get someone who can lead a project from the front, motivate people, have a basic understanding of the technical issues involved, be willing to challenge senior management and existing ingrained thought patterns etc

    probably.

At this rate we still soon be expected to pay for the priviledge of being in a contract.

That assumes one is able to work for the full period. No sickness, training, pension, permie protection etc.

Those are impossible to quantity, but as a rough average I'd say it's equivalent to around 28-30K.

Probably hoping to dupe some poor permie who's just been laid off.

Feck, I laughed out loud when I saw that rate. Defo earmarked for one of our Indian cousins.

Well in a way, we're getting there. Rates for those roles that are still around are so tulipe, that on a comparitive basis, it's lower than permie jobs.

So why are people still taking them...

Because actually they prefer the freedom from office bull - easy to swap work without looking bad on a CV etc.

These used to be additional perks of being a contractor - now they're the only thing left.

That’s all of £0.77p over the minimum wage!

£5.73 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older from Oct 1st 2008.

What a joke…must be a decimal point in the wrong place!!!
