More contracts after 1st April?

My current contract ends 30th April and I already know it wont be extended. Looking around over the last few days there really isn't much about but is that becuase we are in the last bit of March and from 1st April (new financial quarter) more things are likely to start coming through?

Just wondering what the normal situation is for htis time of year as I've never had to look for work in this period before.

It's normally quiet about now anyway. At the moment the market is deader than a dead thing thats dead, unless you happen to be in very niche market.

Yep always like this come year end (5th April). As already said it's even more dead with the recession but just in the last few days I've started to get calls again and even had an old client ring me wanting to know my availability. Just be patient and I'm sure the phone will start ringing

Should start slowly picking up after April starts but will not go into full swing until end of April. May is generally one of the best periods in the year (along with late Sept/early Oct) for getting new contracts. Though how good it will be this May with the recession is anyone's guess, but if it is bad it will remain bad until Sept at least

General recommendation, keep eye on Job boards throughout the year even when in contract so you get to know the ebb and flow of the market so you can forecast the market to make decisions, just like any regular business

Change & Release Management (ITIL too). Just done a long stretch doing a big eCommerce release and looking around there just isn't much happening. I've got until the end of April for something to come up and I can jump ship at short notice too if I do find the right thing.
