    • You have a dodgy relative somewhere.
    • You once did something naughty and didn't declare it.
    • Your name matches the name of somebody dodgy and there is a miniscule chance you could be that person or have contact with that person.
    • There is a gap in your history that they can't fill in and hence you wont be considered.

There are of course many other reasons as well.....

Time to give up and move on.
Or Threaded told you to try and blag it!!!

Are you sure this was DV or even SC clearance? DV takes upwards of 6 months (12 isn't rare) and SC usually takes a couple of months minimum, for that matter DV and SC clearances are done by the DVA not the Ministries.
Of course there's nothing to stop the Ministry doing its own checks, being the MoJ a criminal records check could be done very quickly as would the BC.

If you've had the application rejected very quickly that tends to imply they can't verify your identity or you haven't declared something like a criminal record that they could turn up very fast.

Move on and look for a new contract as there's nowt you can do if your Clearance is rejected.

= He's been a naughty boy and they know it. Shiit happens and even if you think you've managed to cover it up, somewhere down the line it'll re-surface and bite you in the @rse.

Come on - tell us what you did?????

If you had been talking about DVA clearance - which you are not - then nobody would tell you.

          Ask the client, the MoJ.

Duh! Defence Vetting Agency. The clue is in the name.

Ask the client what they are up to.

          Well done.

Maybe the agent is lying and they've placed someone who will accept a lower rate. That isn't so dodgy as you.

And don't worry about the record that's been made of you with Special Branch for hassling the DVA...

When I was working for the Home Office on the CRB project, one contractor failed the security check because she'd been done for having some weed about 10 years previous.

To be honest, I would doubt that as the woman who sits next to me at work has just passed SC with previous convictions for posession of both dope and an offensive weapon.

Probably she thought you were trying to pull her, so just said that to keep you out of her way.

Are they subject to Data Protection Act and therefore a subject acceess request (or whatever it's called)?

People now apply to MI5 (although it can be refused on national security grounds).

I don't think this comes under the Data Protection Act as it can be argued that the information is being witheld in the interest of National Security.
