    SAP Roles

A search on jobserve for sap roles spews out hundreds of jobs but i wonder if there are any experienced SAP consultants here who can give me a genuine feel of what the TRUE market is out there for SAP specific roles.

Is there a true demand out there for SAP skills or is it just a whole lot of hype.

Personally I don't know anyone on the bench but also the pimps are fairly quiet at the moment.

Techie stuff has been deader than dead since late November. I know some very experienced developers on the bench, as I was until yesterday . Talking to the agents there has been some demand for functional people and niche skills but it isn't good out there.

I am a FI-CO/BI and XI integration specialist and am currently about to start delivering another large SAP project for client co. I am regularly in touch with colleagues, consultants and other PMs at large SAP houses and the feedback on the state of the market that I am getting, and seeing is... very quiet.

As application specialists SAP consultants rates generally carry a premium so agencies might cynically be distorting the market in posting ads to try to get CVs in, in the hope of these high rate jobs picking up in the new financial year when project budgets are announced.

Might be worth doing some analysis on seeing which agencies are posting these roles and naming them here - I could then give you the benefit of my experiences as I have probabaly come across them.

I am a SAP Functional HR Payroll/FI specialist myself and have been on the bench for 6 weeks. I have never been on the out of contract in the lst 5 years alone so this is new to me.
I am getting a lot of calls but most of them lead to nothing. There does seem to be lots of ungenuine ads in the job board.
Obviously now worried about the state of the SAP maret which until now was very bouyant.
Are there any suggestions you could give me to increase my exposure. I am using the normal boards, jobserve, jobsite and cwjobs

I'm an SAP Technical PM (ex abaper) and I'm lucky to still be in the same contract for quite a while.

I still seem to be getting a lot of agents ringing me but as I don't really engage in a conversation with them I can't tell you if they are genuine or not.

As a PM now I have seen first hand how projects are being re-evaluated by the Business. I'd estimate that my client is currently considering axing about half its projects for 2009-2010.

However this isn't all bad news for the contractors. In our case the Business is about to announce redundancies due to the ecomomic climate and they are already admitting that contractors will have to fill some of these positions.

At the end of the day the bluechips need to be seen by the City to be reducing the head count on the balance sheet... this doesn't apply to contractors. Mad but true.
