After spending some 4 or 5 years in a IT Security Reseller environment, I have grown to have a very thick skin towards pushy / arrogant (sp?) sales peope. I get on with them from a non-work prospective, but, unfortunately, they often don't have a clue and can only blame themselves for not securing a deal. Saying that, They do work hard to earn a crust, and for that... give credit where it is due.If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here. -
We may be as slimey and odious as Robert Kilroy-Silk but we still have to work very hard to make it in what is one of the hardest and most competitive businesses.Originally posted by pmeswani View PostAfter spending some 4 or 5 years in a IT Security Reseller environment, I have grown to have a very thick skin towards pushy / arrogant (sp?) sales peope. I'm nowhere NEAR as slimy as RKS. Mandelson, maybe...
Don't forget the aggressive targeting, sadistic management and long-hours culture that are endemic in the recruitment business, and is it any wonder the average recruiter has a 4-year career?
Rant over.Comment

You think I don't know that?Originally posted by expat View PostWebsite opens.
Contractors contribute their comments on agencies.
Some agencies don't like what they read about themselves.
They call their solicitor.
The solicitor writes to the webmaster.
The critical posts are removed and/or the website shut down.

Actually, I don't think I've asked an agent what they take, since if I'm not happy with the rate, I don't take the role

This is just inherent of the indsutry you are in and the legacy reputation from wide boys over the past 10 years.
I am of the opinion that if I get my desired rate - I dont really mind what you get - but the down side of that is that when the company I am contracting for is culling; if you are charging more - the liklihood is that the contractor will have a higher chance of being removed.
Case in question is my previous contract - I went through an assosicate of the PSL so my agent was making 15%, Spring I beleive were making 20% and the end client were being billed like £1200 a day for me. Of course this is a slight change in terms of the example - but do you see my point?
What value do you, as an agent personally provide above and beyond what 95% of the Monkies in your industry do?
When you get a role in - dont tell me you dont look at your databse? If you fill a Perm role what have you done to get 25% on it? Honest question. Lets say you fill a 80k role - what have you done to get the 20k?
