I want a contract, I really want to work

I've arrived to UK in September, previously I worked as a freelancer in Romania

I am not desperate to find a job but I really want to build a successful website. I want to get satisfaction out of my work

So I've created a Ltd company, joined this forum and applied on some job sites

    What's next?

Try relocating to a country that has a working economy. And learn a skill that pays more than website development.

I haven't a clue what the economic situation is like in the Balkan region but I do know it's pants in the UK right now; it's a good job you're not desperate to find work. Perhaps going back to Romania is an option + if you're a .NETTER you'll be doing me a personal favour

        asp.net developer in uk

well I'm staying in UK for at least 2 years anyway, because I'm doing a part time master (MSc Software Development)

I know asp.net C# and I think UK and people from UK are great,
        why leaving?!

That is fortunate, that you are not deperate!

Keep an eye on this http://www.jobstats.co.uk/

When you see the chart start going up, you could be in for a contract. Judging by the previous down turn, and by all accounts this one is worse, what with the banks getting it in the neck, you're looking at 2 years for a rebound. Feb 2011 would be my guess.

If you think you might be desperate before then, I'd suggest holding out somewhere cheap to live, keeping up with changing technologies.

My bet, you'll be permi in slough(if you're lucky) before Easter. Xmas downtime fast approaches..

            Don't understand me wrong,

Money are important, but there are things more important for me than earning 20-35 pounds/hour

I just want to create a succesful web application.

You should be optimistic dot net or other technologies aren't only for finance industry!

If the most important thing for you is to develop a successful web application, just crack on and when you have something successfully implemented put it live with a decent host and use it as a showcase for your skills and abilities. Ok so you don't get paid developing something for development's sake, but it could have some end value as an application in it's own right (depending on the application you develop) and you also get the oppurtunity to develop and enhance your tech skills along the way.

..er and it's not just finance that's knackered. A wide range of private sector industry in the UK is starting to buckle with public sector holding up better for the moment..but not for long in my opinion.

                  Good Luck Victor !

Remember, if you please, that when you tell the agents you are looking for work, if it was me, I would not mention that you are designing a website from scratch. Otherwise this might put them off your skills and they may try and offer you a much lower rate.

Thanks for your post. It isn't often that we get nice real requests for help.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
