Ok, here's my story.
Been contracting for 10 years, mostly not in the UK. Have had 18 contracts in that time and been shafted by plenty of agents.
So, i'm on my 3rd contract now in the UK, finishing it off and going for the 4th.
Had an agent ring me out of the blue.. (as they do), told me he has a job for me. Rate was excellent on a 3 month rolling contract about 10 mins from my home. Thought awesome!! Gave him my CV, told him my conditions:
1. Currently contracting at company X.
2. I finish on the 24th of August there. Am available after that date
3. I charge £XXX per day
4. Ltd Company
All was good. I sent him a CV, he provided a job spec. 2 days later, he got a response from the client and I had an interview the next day. Interview went great, I was offered the job there an then...
Interviewer - "When can you start?"
Me - "after the 24th of August"
Interviewer - "oh, that's a problem, I needed someone 2 weeks ago".
Me - "Hmmm, I thought this info was provided to you by my agent that i'm available after this date of the 24th"
Interviewer - "No, this role is urgent and I need you ASAP, I was told u r available straight away, hence the urgent interview"..
Me - "Ok, i'll get back to you, i'll just call the agent and find out the information that was relayed to you"..
Anyway... i'm very pi55ed at this stage. I rang the agent and had to leave a voicemail. I even re-forwarded the email prior which outlined my conditions..
He has ignored me since and refuses to return calls. I can't even get in contact with the client to try and arrange something. It's like the job disappeared of the earth.
Now, I know most agencies are total scum sucking pig shooting wankstains that make your life hell and are full of lies and crap. I've been stung before, but, this really pissed me off. I actually took a day off for this interview as I was pretty close to guarantee to have the job (i was the only person interviewed with the exact specific skill set required in a niche market).
So, I wanna get them back... Hit me with ideas.
