So, the outside role is 100% remote, fully flexible hours, no requirement to attend any meetings between the 0830-1730 period that you'll be working for the inside gig, and you've agreed payment on delivery of specific outcomes and not an hourly/daily rate?

If not, then what you're saying is that you think you will be able to do two full time jobs, charge both for full time work but only work half the hours on each. That sounds like a fine breach of contract scenario and, at best, you could end up being sacked.

Ah the old contractor fantasy. In very rare situations, possible. In general, not a chance.

I am assuming the inside gig client would be less supportive of this, given they are by definition paying for my time (full time) and not my outputs...

If less supportive means breach of contract then you are correct. As much as it should be so, you'll be surprised how few outside gigs work on an output scenario. They'll probably be very unhappy as well. If you can't tell them then then it's unlikely they'll be happy.

It's likely this statement will occur in two places, the contract between the client and umbrella and then in the contract between you and the umbrella?

Is it enforceable? About as enforceable as the clause where you get paid. You can't pick and chose which clauses you don't like and ignore them.

I haven't had the contract through for the inside role yet, and so I wouldn't see if there are any clauses to this end... (can they even do that?), but my contract would be with the umbrella anyway...?

Think very hard about this. It's a pipedream for most of us to have two gigs but the reality is totally different. You will be expected to do a full day on at least the inside gig, and I'll bet the second. Work will ebb and flow and get very busy at times so you will 100% be welching on work for at least one client at anyone time. Don't try kid yourself that you can do it in the time needed and that you can get anywhere near the expectations of either client.
