    Is Contract Spy legit

    They claim to scan job boards and ATS systems to consolidate ads for direct-with-client contract opportunities.

    It costs 250/quid/year to join.


    I've had on and off success trying to stop dealing with recruiters. Is this legit?

    Doubt it - but they are making £250 a year from fools willing to sign up.

    If they were any good they would be allowing you to see the jobs for free but not allowing you to see the contact details so I would go for scam.

          On their Twitterfeed you can see what positions they (claim to) have. They seem to be direct with companies, which they name so should be easy to apply for them without going through them

            Looks like a web scraper to me.
            I'll bet a lot of their subscribers are agency staff hunting for new leads.
            Just had a look at the Twitter feed. I feel that some of the clients they list as direct might not be totally true. For example I can't see the Cabinet Office going direct to contractor. That of course could just be me.
            I can't see the return on investment for £250 pa.

              If you can land direct contracts, the 250 is definitely worth it.

              Once you're in direct, you can upsell and cross sell services which you can't do as an agency contractor.

              I was the lead architect on an ERP migration over 4 years ago, I sold support services (hired two contractors in Asia) and I still have that client to this day. That contract started direct. No way that could have happened through an agency. I got further work through the PE firm that owned the client.

              Getting direct work can be the difference between forever needing to beg recruiters for attention and starting a genuine practice, even if it's just a one man practive.

                I do agree with you mostly and £250 for some good business is not bad value. I just wouldn't feel comfortable about spending £250 with this outfit and getting a return but hey that's just me.

                  +1 - it's a bargain which opens up the question of do they have enough money to actual source the direct contracts. Other companies that work in this area charge £1000s for similar services.
