Super-commuting between Rotterdam and London

I have done the same route in reverse for three years and then I lived in Rotterdam for a further three years. It's not super commuting. By air there were loads of delays and sometimes being stacked over London for an hour or so.
You won't get cheap flight always, you need to budget for more. You may lose your flight if you check-in less than 45 minutes without luggage.
£50 in London for accommodation is laughable, sh!t holes will cost £100 - £150 pn
Eurostar worked out fine again with aa few delays. The most reliable was driving leaving Rotterdam at 5pm and getting into Dover about 10pm

How often did you experience delays? It sounds like you looked at all the options I'm currently looking at including Eurostar, Eurotunnel (including hours of driving), and I'm even looking at boat options. For example, 2 weeks ago, I took the boat from Rotterdam to Harwich. It was reasonably priced, and I had my car, but this vastly increases the time I'm away from my family as would Eurotunnel. Eurostar and plane seem to be the fastest and most efficient ways to reduce time away from family.

But the fact you did it for 3 years says a lot. That's probably the absolute maximum time I would do it for. There is a high possibility my family will move to London after 1 year. To add some context, she just got a decent promotion, and wants to work at least a year in that role before moving (which makes sense). But in 1 year or so, there's a high chance we'll uproot to London (it would be my wife's first time living in UK, so would be an exciting move for her).

Booked early enough you can get a Travelodge for £75 or so a night Travelodge London Docklands Central - New Hotel

Indeed. And £50 was what I found further afield with a 30-minute Tube journey, something I don't mind doing.

It makes no difference to you or anyone else, but a huge difference to me in terms of my time, way of working, and exposure (risk).

I mean, some people like to do that on Linked In as well, delete their old profile then create a new one to hide what has happened in the past.
And your old profile, you couldn't decide what gender you were, so shall we just say all of it was a lie, including the deleted threads/posts, and then you can have this one as your new shiny profile where you act in a friendly, polite, reasonable way, and don't make outlandish claims, or consider yourself better than others.

I guess Edinburgh is not an ideal airport to commute to/from regularly as it's not a commuter airport, and the times you went to Heathrow (also not a commuter airport) probably degraded your experience and made it more tedious.

If you were commuting only between airports like LCY on a regular basis, would that be more agreeable in your experience?

In my case, this is for either a contract or a long-term permanent position, but more likely the latter. So I would be doing this commute probably 25 times per year. That's accounting for holidays and WFH fully every fourth week (the requirement is 2 days in office on average, so I can do 3, 3, 2, 0).

I'd argue against EDI being not a commuter airport - early morning and early evening flights are filled with business travellers (finance). EDI is also fairly easy to commute through, especially if you have fastrack (Silver+ on BA) although landing late at night can sometimes result in the "waiting on the stairs" issue if the plane is being parked up rather than collecting passengers for an onward flight.

But if it is truly just 25 times a year, i would not let it put me off the role, if its the role i wanted to go for.

Good point, and isn't LCY one of the first to close in high winds, due to the relatively short runway and the steeper angle of descent required due to the surrounding buildings?

No, it doesn't resolve the anonymity issue or the searchability issue and utilisation of site features. And I have no desire to hide my past like the LinkedIn example you gave. My other profile is anonymous, so that's irrelevant. And old posts are buried in the backlog of topics. But I still need to search them. This one isn't anonymous.

Also, why does NLUK not get banned for calling people pricks and telling them to go **** themselves. I did far less than this, and get permabanned. He does this routinely to people and doesn't get banned. Is that because he attends IRL events and is considered above the rules?

The other question is how much of a priority and how full is the flight. LCY to AMS will be a priority because of transfers and the cost of cancellations, that simply isn't the case for smaller airports and it was common in Amsterdam to play the game of which flight out of Norwich / Aberdeen / Bristol is going to be cancelled this evening...
