    Same bank different contracts

Hiya, so I'm in bank A role A. I hate and dont plan to extend. I've been offered another role in Bank A with a different agency.

Is this going to be a problem.

So many missing pieces of information.
    What do you hate?
What does your current contract say about switching agents?
Are you inside or outside IR35?
How long have you been there?
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

The contract comes to an in a few weeks. So I'm not bound to any agent after it expires. I am not extending. I don't see any clause about not working for the same company with a different agency

The next role should start immediately after with a different agent although it's the same bank.

My question is will the bank have an issue with this.

      Thanks

If you aren't renewing then there shouldn't be any issues with handcuffs as the original agency isn't losing any money. That said......

I have a feeling this could be something like what I ran in to at a certain finance outfit in Shipley. It could be that one agency has a master agreement and is farming out the role to other agencies. In this situation it would depend who is the master. If you are with the master now and the new one is through the sub the master may call dibs on you and cause an issue. It's hard to explain and even harder to understand why but when this happened to me the sub couldn't put me forward as the master had dibs on me even though the master wasn't representing the role so I was blocked from even applying.

Another similar situation is a legal firm in Manchester. I went through the sub agency but the main agency was also representing it. The main agency wouldn't allow me to be put forward as they had a candidate even though the client wanted to interview.

So two agencies can causea a problem for no reason than greed and stupidity

What you need to do is ask some questions as to why the bank has two agencies. Is it two different areas of the bank that are unconnected? If so then I guess they could have their own agencies. Does the second agent know you are with the bank? If so you can have a frank conversation with them and ask them what the score with two agencies and if it's a problem. Always bear in mind they could be lying through the back of their teeth. If they don't know you are with the client then you might need to make enquiries in such a way you are a friend you know i.e. I have a mate at said bank with your current agency, what is your connection with them.

I am pretty certain the bank won't care. It's the agencies that are going to be the problem. You will either run in to the problem I had with layers of agencies or the agency you are with will try pull some kind of handcuff or complain to their client (which they shouldn't if the contract is expiring). They'll do anything to try keep you even though you aren't renewing.

With two agencies involved I'd tread carefully but try find out what is going on as soon as you can.

Thank you so much. The second agency said they have placed a number of contractors with the bank already. That said, Ill ask as you have instructed in a subtle way. The new team don't know I already work there but as you said they may not mind. Hopefully the current agency does not torpado the process.

I assume it's not on your CV then. How did you explain the gap if you haven't put your current gig on?

The CV does not say the end client only the agency

                  Not really.

I have had clauses where I've not been allowed to name the client either until certain work is in the public domain or until a certain period of time has passed. Stupid thing is as soon as you describe them and mention what part of the country you were in everyone knows who they are.

Yes really. That's extremely uncommon to say the least. I've never seen it with any clients or CV's I've sifted through.

I'd be very suspicious if someone had an agency on the CV. In a vast majority of cases it will be to deliberaltey obscure something as in this case.
