    Switzerland Contracts

    Hi All,

Do we now the current rates for SCCM Engineer roles in Switzerland?

What would be an acceptable rate to live comfortably?

Also , another question, would it be cheaper to live in Germany/France and commute to Basel instead?

    Thanks!

SCCM is going down the tubes IMO. Being replaced by Intune.
There might be some legacy engineering work, but I doubt it'll get top dollar.

yes cheaper to live outside CH and commute.

Do you have an EU or CH passport? If not it will be difficult to get a contract in CH in the first place.

Maybe 800 CHF per day, maybe a bit less. Tax is relatively low if you don't live in the city.

While we're on the topic - has anyone contracted at Roche before?

UK gig but the hiring manager said he'd prefer someone move to Switzerland in around 9 months.

You will get an in figure which means you pay employer tax as well as employee tax. I think 800 is low and 1k a day is average.

just be aware that commuting each week like the old days are over. You need to really live here which is easier said than done

Forget the rate - first talk to the agent about practicalities. Who is the contract with and how is tax paid. If you're not resident in Switzerland then your time in the country will be extremely limited (90 days per annum) so commuting in and out is unlikely to be an option.
Keep in mind dual taxation - whatever you earn in Switzerland is likely to be taxed in your home country, but only the main income tax is normally covered by dual taxation agreements. As such all the extra costs - including employee and employer taxes and social security - will not count against your own income tax. Then work out what the day rate on offer means to you.
Living costs are certainly very high in Basel compared to neighbouring French and German towns so worth a commute if possible. There's a tram line that goes straight into central Basel from Germany which may be a good option depending on where the client is.

There's also a tram line that goes from St Louis in France.
