nobody is worth more than anybody is willing to pay for them.
Ain't nobody gonna pay £2k a day for a pure techie. No matter how good they are.
They have to bring more to the party.

good techies sometimes are not spotted by agents because they techies detest business jargon and interactions with sales people.
they do not tell people what they want to hear. they do not have to put the effort to learn that because they know they are good.

clear job spec, good rates (550min for outside, london). set some clear criteria for recruiters (off call). don't go for superficial - worked for a financial firm for 2y so he must be good.
don't mention culture, tables and all that. that is usually a sign that the company is trying to overcompensate for something.

keep it basic and clean - good team of high fliers, decent budget, decent manger. people will bite your hand for it.

These roles are also completely remote which would probably benefit someone

At the moment 95% of contracts are remote and why to advertise culture? First of all most contractors don't give a **** about culture and secondly with remote working you won't notice much of the culture. Same for WBL.

I think in general the tech talent pool is smaller in London than in the states. If you are looking for something really niche or someone who is a "rockstar" you probably have to pay a premium to try and steal them while they are in another contract. This talent will probably spend very very little time outside of a contract so it's really about luck if you're just trying to capture them with average market rates in between contracts.

You probably want to try and have a high enough rate that people will apply to these contracts while still in contract with someone else.

What you get paid and what you worth are two different things.

Plenty of contractors get paid £600 a day but are only worth £200, thats about how productive they are. Winbags mostly, talk the talk but dont produce anything,

Then there are those who get paid £600 a day but produce £2000+ of value.

Seen it many times over my 21 years as a contractor. Its called 'Prices Law', and applies to nearly all creative fields including software development.
