    Tie or No-Tie

Hello .. First post but have been reading here for long time.. thanks for all valuable inputs.

Been on bench for past 3 months and have been to a few interviews but not converted so far. Anyway hope to get something soon.

However a minor niggle in back of mind probably just a result of being idle for sometime.

I am usually going in for test consulting roles (in banking ), should I wear a Tie or not, I always do but also aware that in work-setting I would not and the hiring managers, if a man, also does not. What are the current views on this ? It probably does not matter but what I would like to know is - if it is now acceptable to give interviews without a Tie.

    Thanks !

Unless it's a place I've already been and/or a manager I already know (in which case it's a chat rather than an interview) always suited and booted.
And the lord said unto John; "come forth and receive eternal life." But John came fifth and won a toaster.

Always fully suited for interview, pretty much without exception, but I've not worn a tie to work in 10 years.

Suited & booted for the interview, always - unless the agent/client specifies otherwise without me asking.

Day 1 of the job also suited & booted, but this time I will check with the agent/client before hand and go with their suggestion.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

Deffo suit for interview. Might be overdressed for work there but no client is going to be off if you wear a suit to interview.

I turned up to one in suit and tie and they apologised for not telling me earlier I didn't have to wear one. Still got the gig, mind. Might as well just err on the side of caution with it. You never know if folk might get funny about it.

Er, why not go full on casual in that case? Nope, if going for an interview, always go suited and booted because without exception, everyone else going for the role and wanting it will be (booted, suited and wearing a tie).

So do you guys always actually wear a tie for a face to face interview? Suit obviously, goes without saying. But a tie?

                    Yes.

Suit without a tie is what you wear when leaving a club.
