I know how much you like to hate permies but this isn't caused by just them. I've seen contractors being arses and pissing other contractors off as well. Might be different mechanics but it isn't just the realm of permies.

Totally agree (for once). Its a different dynamic - permies and contractors have different reasons for being there. Sometimes theres a clash it seems. Sometimes it just doesnt work - sometimes it does.

Personally, I wouildnt have done this. Its never going to work. This TL is now going to be on a mission IMHO. I'd rather be skint and shop in Farm Foods for a few months.
Probably the mgr. knows what’s behind the disagreements, knows that the TL isn’t an easy person and isn’t related with your mate's performance.

Personally If your mate has the capacity to ignore him I think your mate did the right thing.

I agree with you, everybody are different. Some people prefer to maintain quiet as much as possible in order to avoid more conflicts, it's not my profile too, unfortunately I don't have nerves of steel.

I had a case that I ignored a conflict (a behavior problem that was affecting all the team) for some time and the conflict became bigger until I had a conversation with the person and his manager. Problem solved, but sometimes it's dificult to measure the consequences.

Not really, if you are impulsive and you are forcing yourself to keep calm, you are going against your nature, with is, you could end stressed.

Oh yes. All well and good saying dont worry about, keep on invoicing etc.

Some people get stressed (And worse) some dont. You need to be aware which type you are.

Come on NLUK. Everyones different. Not everyone can steam in, cause arguments, then walk away from it and not give a hoot.

Think yourself lucky if you're one of those who are totally unaffected by stress etc. But theres a lot more it.

Indeed. It just appears some people run in to it time and time again so I do think it's not just down to the personality of the person, it's what mechanisms they use to manage it.

Everyones brain is wired/works differently. Yes some people can do things to manage it - I would argue not everyone though.
