My mate is the sort who never touches a PC once hes left the office...

Spoke to him last night when we went out for a beer. Seems this guy was ok to begin with then last few months hes been really off. Seems to co-incide with mate being the "go to" guy for some of the work thats being done.

Seems like a bit of permie jealousy here. Mate is a bit stressed and distraught by it all because otherwise its a good gig.

Im with NLUK on this one though. If TL gets overriden and mate stays it going to get worse IMHO. TL is really going to be on a mission to prove that he was right and contractor is useless....

Joking aside though its all well and good to say keep calm and invoice. I tried this once - I was surprised at myself how quiclkly it just stressed me out having to deal with tosser permies. Vowed never again. Of course everyone is different...

You'll never win an argument when theres a perm involved. My thinking these days is crack on, all the best, I'm off to work somewhere else cheers.

Well mate took extension. Apparently, TL went nuts at being overruled. Mgr said dont worry I'll sort it.

Personally, I wouildnt have done this. Its never going to work. This TL is now going to be on a mission IMHO. I'd rather be skint and shop in Farm Foods for a few months.

BUT I guess everyone is different. I guess some can handle conflict all day long, then go out of the door and forget about it. Not me.

I hope my mate knows what hes doing...

Nice to know you enjoy seeing others guys junk....

But as for the OP's problem - what is notice period on contract - and can it be negotiated down to say 2 weeks so that if things do go seriously south with TL then only need to give 2 weeks notice and go.

Alternatively go for the punch the TL in the face and have contract cancelled..... may not look to great on your cv/companies history but not every company has a smooth path to success.

TBF, it doesn't sound like you tried it at all.

That would be an option I guess. I know when it was me a few yeara go it was 3 months or nothing. No notice. So after two weeks I was stuck there.

Not sure if punch in the face is the clever option!

Because there would appear to be a big contradiction between the words "keep calm" and "stressed me out". If you remain calm, then you are unlikely to be stressed out. If you are stressed out, you are unlikely to be remaining calm.
