Instead of removing part of my post with all the logic behind my conclusion, you would get why.
If you don't understand, I think you never had to managed a team and never had to do performance evaluations. Am I correct?

Telling someone to feck off that has pointed this out isn't good manners so you can't expect it not to go south. Teach a man to fish and all that.
Talking about manners... we don't have time to read all of your negative bulltulip.

As usual you are completely wrong. At least you are consistent.

I can be wrong, but with the nature of your comment I took my conclusion if you are a manager or kind a manager. Sorry buddy.

Took me some time to leave the good manners behind and start telling you lot to feck off.
Erm yes because the second sentence in the orginal post states and I quote "Not me for a change lol. Mate of mine whos just on his 2nd gig."

And why are you telling us to feck off - OP even hasn't yet ??

So the manager has overridden the permie TLs opinion and left it up to the contractor? I can see the TL/contractor relationship heading seriously south in the next extension

For us to give a correct opinion we need to know the facts and you are using the words "I think" and "apparently" and we get confused.

If it's true that the TL is telling to the mgr to leave and the mgr want him to stay he needs to know why for him to decide. Anyway I think this is a communication issue.

But the thread isn't really about fixing the communication. It's about whether the OPs mate should stay or find something else.

That's the point. His mate can't decide if he doesn’t know why the hell the TL doesn’t like him.

If the TL said something negative to the mgr without telling his mate first, he is just a coward and a bad TL.
Take the “beast by the horns” and ask why. With is, he can improve the relationship.
