Oh and your mate is welcome to post on here himself you know...
Are you saying he is his mate?
Why someone new would want to post here. To be mocked and hated by the old dogs?
Took me some time to leave the good manners behind and start telling you lot to feck off.

Problem here is that is PC posting so whatever advice we give is probably not going to reach his mate as given. PC doesn't know his situation so we only get half a story so us asking questions doesn't really get us answers. It's difficult to give any advice based on facts. All we have a permie'esque story about not getting on with someone and zero facts that are more pertinent to contracting.

And while we are taking about manners. You are asking people who give up their time to help for free. Good manners is thinking about your situation and helping yourself as well. Just asking if a receipt from a till, which you most likely use to claim your own expenses, is acceptable is a tad lazy. Telling someone to feck off that has pointed this out isn't good manners so you can't expect it not to go south. Teach a man to fish and all that.

If his manager is asking him to stay, probably his team leader is giving positive reviews to the manager.
Why you are saying apparently the team leader says they should let him go?
If your mate had disagreements with his TL, it's not the same to say that TL doesn't like him.
This is a lack of communication that needs to be clarified.
Not me for a change lol. Mate of mine whos just on his 2nd gig.
All going well and hes been there a year but client mgr called him to one side and asked his intentions re: next renewal. Mgr wants him to stay but, apparently, team leader says they should let him go. Hes had a few disagreements with this guy.
Personally, my advice was to look for something else and be very careful about taking an extension here. Even if the mgr wants him there its not going to be cool if someone doesnt want him there. I had a bad experience once - took an extension at a client I knew was like this just because it was close to home - caused my loads of stress....
Interested what others think. Carry on invoicing and suck it up? Or lifes too short to stress get something else?

How on earth can you come to that conclusion? He's had disagreements and the TL want's him to go and you think TL is giving positive feedback? Seriously?
Not sure why it needs clarifying. What the TL and Mgr discuss is not really any business of the contractors. Only whether the renewal will be offered.
