When I was at Lloyds, we used to do this dance every year. Two weeks enforced leave for all Retail Business based contractors. (Not a problem, who doesn't want two weeks off at Christmas ??). Usually followed by, we need you all in over xmas because Sys test is late from offshore
UAT will have to be shifted to the xmas and new year period. No thanks, I'm having the whole thing off, as per your original dictat. See you in mid January

< 1 month to go
Client: "You're all off for two weeks"
Contractors: "Fine"
< 2 weeks to go
Client: "We're not sure if we need you or not"
Contractors: "Make your mind up"
<1 week to go
Client: "We probably do need you but we're note sure"
Contractors: "FFS it is 19th Dec make your chuffing mind up"
<2 days to go
Client email: "As per previous email correspondence contractors are required to work the holiday period where needed to meet key deliverables. Contractors are responsible for assessing whether deliverables are urgent enough to warrant this and should not work otherwise."
Contractors: "Oh p*ss off!"
Been doing this a long time now so I should be used to it, but the annual xmas hokey cokey does make laugh.Comment

We've been told to take a mandatory 10 days off over 4 weeks during the Xmas/New Year period. I am more than happy with this and good to have a choice of exactly when. No whingeing from me over this one - just can't see what other posters are so up tight around having to take time off...______________________

Pimp I'm engaged with have emailed all contractors at client co bank, that as of Jan 1st 2017 you can't work more than 220 days for the full year.
Opened a can o worms here I can tell you.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

Take off your bank holidays, couple of weeks main holiday, 2 weeks off at Christmas and you're down to about 234 already. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't existComment
