3 Week Christmas / NY Contractor Freeze

Because of the three week break, we need to sign something on our return which says we've not committed any murders or "worked for anyone else" during the period of downtime. Surely that's an IR35-unfriendly schoolboy error? To be fair though, it was from Lorien who don't give a **** so I guess I should have expected it.

Lorien have replied to say that quite a few contractors have raised this with them but they can't do anything because its what the client emailed them. I did ask what the Lorien accountants and legal team thought of it but I don't think I'll get a reply.

So they don't want you to work for them or anyone else, I would refuse to sign it, the cheek of it!
