Completely shocking as it was one of the largest banks in the world.Comment

So effectively for this client, you could lie about your entire working history and qualifications and easily get away with it.

It seems a little crazy that this risk hasn't been closed off in 2016, particularly after everything that's happened in the last decade. Especially in investment banking.Comment

The banks I have worked for have all done Disclosure Scotland checks to ensure no criminality. They never took up references though on the basis that if you couldn't do the job then instant termination would follow.

Was going to mention working for the Army requires a more rigorous shakedown than Pharmaceutical manufacturers (I've done both).Comment

So this week I've really tried to get on with the jobs at hand. Yesterday I was told that they felt I wasn't contributing enough despite being only given a handful of tasks but all were completed, passed tests and checked in after review. I made a change to their core services, (for the better I might add), and was roundly told off by the manager for touching it. Nevermind that the senior dev reviewed my work and checked it in.
I'm told to do more but at the same time told not to touch anything other than the project area in meant to work in. It's like they're trying to put obstacles up to block me and then use those as an excuse to give me grief.
Today I absolutely rinsed the task board. I blitzed my assigned jobs and then helped myself to tasks on the board. They want value for money I'll give them it. I'm not being labeled lazy or incompetent. I've completed maybe a half dozen tasks and shelved them for review. The manager tells me that I've done way too much!! That I've took tasks he was going to give to the senior or was going to look at himself. Then, when he's reviewing my work he tears strips off me because I've done something in the service I'm working in that he felt should go into core. I remind him that I'm not allowed to touch core. I get nothing back from him.
I'm genuinely sick of the place. It seems whatever I do won't cut it for the manager. I wish he'd just terminate me and let me walk. I'm close to walking on my own but I'm now three days into the invoice period for the week and i just know they'll not pay my invoice if I up and leave.
I'm seeing it out until Friday and then I'm sticking my notice in on Monday morning. Hopefully they'll just tell me not to come back.Comment
