To be fair his complaint is about communication issues so a valid argument to point out the problems he is having with communication no?

I am against feeding trolls. Sorry.
Maybe he is another useless BA, maybe he is Genius. Who cares. Ever single questions is trolled and bashed. I could write an app who could replicate 99% of posts/replies here.

          Every.

          Sorry ....

My advice to the OP is this:

It happens and it is unpleasant. But I would not waste time and effort in trying to pursue the agency or client because they will undoubtedly fight back and you'll discover that there are plenty of clauses in your contract that gives them a get-out in having to pay you.

You will sink time and energy into an activity ( not to mention causing yourself undue stress ) into something that is highly unlikely to be successful. There are not many examples of when a client or agent has been taken to court and the contractor won - and there's a reason for that.

More importantly though this will distract you from your main focus which should be to secure another contract.

You should also take time to reflect on how you behaved. You might not feel you did anything wrong but you had moved from one type of culture to another. Behaving in a way that is acceptable in Investment banking may not be appropriate in local insurance.

I can talk from experience myself. I worked on a commodities trading floor for a long time. Everyone was aggressive, pushed hard, swore at each other. Nothing was meant by it, it was the culture and how everyone behaved. Moving to a more laid back start-up culture was a shock! And I had to adapt quickly.

As soon as you get your next contract you'll be able to move on and put this down to experience.

Where is the trolling and bashing here? I think you owe an apology.

Spot on I come from a Fixed Income and Commodities trading environment background back in the days from a Trader and then went into IT into Solution Architecture, System Design and BA etc, and have build Requirements and Solution designs for OTC Derivatives and Exchange traded Oil Gas trading platforms. The culture within the Insurance environment is actually very laid back, so it kind of became a learning curve and a culture shock. I failed to adapt, anyhow its back to Banking and trading contracts. Maybe the other world is just far too different !! haha

To be fair I would have thought you would have seen your share of crap what with banking chopping rates and trading being a tough environment.

Yes true it has been chaos around the banking environment, but am not just a BA or SA though I also operate in domains of Network Design, System Design etc, so my contract work is like very diverse, very technical and also very high level and strategic at the project level. I had never been burnt, but now I have !, haha.

I just felt the team I worked with, in the Insurance Brokerage, were not very mature enough in there concepts, project understanding and also in terms of there approach. Perhaps the disconnect in the communication gap came from them being too BAU and me being very project level focused. They talked about IT transformation of there core systems but in effect they were only building a Datawarehouse. Complications took place when we got into technical discussions around requirements for the Database Logical and Physical Views and the supporting Schema requirements based on the Data Vault model. Further compliexity arose from not understanding what NFRS documentation was, and not coherently understanding the linkages between System Requirements, Solution Design and Build.

You just cant get deploy projects with BAU Resources or BS your way through about Agile approaches and methodolgies.

I was an IPSE Consultative Council Member, until the BoD abolished it. I am not an IPSE Member, since they have no longer have any relevance to me, as an IT Contractor. Read my lips...I recommend QDOS for ALL your Insurance requirements (Contact me for a referral code).
