It was. And I'll give the same answer for you.

If you don't want your home address to appear then register the company at a different address. Most accountants will provide this for a small fee.

I use a local business centre as my business address. They charge me a small amount per year to use their address and all company mail goes to that address and that is the address that appears on my website and in a company's house search.

It's also the address that is used in my domain name registrations.

You do realise when you get a gig you'll give your bank account details, NI and passport details to a complete stranger to keep in their desk don't you?

You can hide your personal address as others said.

You can't hide your full name, nationality and birthdate.

Hence my point about sites like 192 and going through bins.

Even then they can just con the postie into giving you your mail as due to most routes now having a few rather than just one they won't remember everyone.

Also now you can get free credit check reports from the likes of experian.
<yawn> I'm aware you don't have to be a director to have that happen to you, but having your name, address and date of birth (crucially) available from one handy source increases the chance of that happening. Doesn't require going through bins or registration anywhere to source.

I do mind. However it goes with the territory.

After discovering how is easy it is to trace someone, even non-director, through free databases on the internet, it bothers me less.

CH do allow you to conceal details from the public domain if there is a genuine security risk, think "Huntingdon Life Sciences". If I were to start another company, or move house, then I'd probably use my accountant's address as the RO. The old details stay public with companies house so I don't see much value in changing it now. Similar issue with domain names.

As for D.O.B. details and risk of fraud. Perhaps it's worth signing up with one of the credit monitoring services, although not done that myself... yet.

                      Does it?

I've heard variety of people complain about it. The majority aren't directors.
