Still, better than £0+VAT which is my current setup
    This!

I had to take a 30% paycut to get off the bench. Unfortunately, its a sign of the times. Its the Contract "Market" and we ourselves as contractors go up and down in value depending on demand. Clients are getting brilliant contractors for amazing day rates. My accountant told me that he has contractors who are 8 months on the bench and he says he doubts they will get off it.

      8 months! Ouch.

There comes a point where holding out does you more harm than good...

My worst was 9 months in 2008 but that wasn't all that unusual then. A good mate of mine is currently at 11 months but adamant that a £650pd opportunity will come to him!

It's nowhere near as bad as 2008 for me (BA, London and thereabouts). This week has shown some decent opportunities, although I guess there are lots of us chasing them.

There were about 3 BA jobs on Jobserve on any given day. Didn't work for 6 months.

Could've been doing some easy £400's and coming out on top...

Worst I've had out is 3 months, since 2014.

Unless he is in Investments, with a super niche skill set and years of experience in it then he wont find anything but god loves a trier!

Was out for a year in 16-17.

4 months at the moment although that did include August. Had little trouble finding something in March this year and when then got cut short actually got through a few interviews in May but everything seemed to evaporate about then.

Got a couple of things on the go so hopefully schools going back and pent up demand will get me back in.

Hyperion/Essbase/BI - not my area at all and no idea whether it's niche or commonplace.

2019: Is Brexit and/or IR35 Killing the Market

Is Brexit AND/OR ir35 killing the contractor market?

Or, have the ratio of the number of IT contractors to each advertised vacancy increased?
