I hope that's not the case anywhere I've worked. I always end them "thanks, myName" unless I've already thanked them in the body of the email, in which case, its "regards, nyName". -
Point taken, moving on, no need to rub it in the wounds with acid.
I really appreciate some posters here, thanks. And the hi/ dear and regards/ kind regards ones were spot on the cultural issue. Although the office was also a mixed 'cultural' lot, with one keeping everyone loudly absorbed into her moaning and openly using no go swear words about collaborators all the time, being very direct, constant anger issues and catastrophic meetings, etc Everyone else was very quiet though ( including me actually).Comment

You seriously need to work on your English. But glad you've got the messageOriginally posted by Homhom View PostPoint taken, moving on, no need to rub it in the wounds with acid.
Oh, sadly it appears you haven't. You are still crying about it. The more you protest the more it looks like you are actually the problem. Just drop it and move on......Although the office was also a mixed 'cultural' lot, with one keeping everyone loudly absorbed into her moaning and openly using no go swear words about collaborators all the time, being very direct, constant anger issues and catastrophic meetings, etc Everyone else was very quiet though ( including me actually).'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!

I spend enough time working with them and it can be frustrating and a blocker to communication so an improvement won't do him any harm. I'm over myself thank you.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostI spend most of my working life dealing with non-native English speakers. Homhom's English is fine. I tried to delete the repeat post, but it doesn't let me.
Don't worry for me, I got an advanced higher degree in a so-called elite institution in this country. I don't write like this on the job.
And, how don't I open up the communication?

Reminder - this is not General. No further parody replies please.
If it still winds you up, you obviously need more experience. Believe me, when you stop giving a toss, you feel so much better.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostI spend enough time working with them and it can be frustrating and a blocker to communication so an improvement won't do him any harm.
I'm sure you are.I'm over myself thank you.
As a matter of courtesy, why don't you use your better communication skills (if you have them) here?Originally posted by Homhom View Post...

It's nothing English that wound me initially for a start. It was just a comment on my opinion of his English which, when I last looked was allowed. I'm not the one carrying it on.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostIf it still winds you up, you obviously need more experience. I need more obviously need more experience??? Lol.... Easy for you to say working in Switzerland.
Anyway, am sure Mods really shouldn't be arguing the toss in the prof forums so guess we need to move on.Last edited by northernladuk; 15 April 2016, 16:00.'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!
