can i directly contact client for feedback?

Had an interview through an agency, went very well. Agency rang me to check how it went, i was told that there will be some feedback in 24 Hrs. After 24 hrs i rang them to check if there is any feedback, agent told me that there are two positions open and client is interviewing other candidates and will get back to us by Friday.

I think agent is not very straight with me, there is something wrong. Client told me that there is only one position open not two plus client needs someone on board asap as the other guy is leaving due to family crisis.

I can be wrong but just wondering if i can contact client and ask for feedback. If they are still interviewing then fair enough.

    Just can't trust agent.

All the feedback you need is a call to say you've got the gig. If you hear nothing, you didn't get it. It's as simple as that.

The client has no interest in speaking to contractors, that's why they use an agent.

The agent has no interest in speaking to anyone that doesnt have earning potential for them so they won't be calling you to tell you you didn't get it. The silence is all the feedback you need.

You also need to start understanding the relationship between all the parties as well. You have no arrangement with the client at all so in most cases the question of 'Should I speak to the client about X' the answer will be no. Speak to the person you have a contract with.

Or you see it as an opportunity in this brave new world of networking. Contact the client, but not for feedback. See if there are any business opportunities in the future. It's how I got my last got.

There are a few times you should speak to the client. This is not one of them.

Possibly but you've got to take it in context here. The OP is just starting out and doesn't have a clue. He's more likely to ruin his chances by being a pain than garner any business contacts. He needs to learn to walk before he can run.

It can be difficult to read interviewers at time. Some seem miserable as hell but turns out they loved you, while others can come across pally and enthusiastic but they're the same to everyone.

Generally if they're still interviewing it means that they're not 100% happy with you. If you get to the end of the week and haven't heard, give the agent a ring. Explain that you expect that you probably haven't got the gig given lack of news, but is there any specific reasons as to why. The agents were always keen to ask me why I rejected candidates so it'll be the same for you.

If you're active on linkedin then you can always add the whoever interviewed you.

In this instance I wouldn't contact the client. Maybe if you don't get it you can send them a message wishing them luck and thanks blah blah blah

Likely scenario is that the agent has sent in a couple of punters for the role and the client will interview them all before making a decision, that bulltulip about more than one role is just to keep you hanging on until the decision is made. A more cynical reason may well be that one of the other punters is cheaper than you and the agent is hoping to get him in in preference (maybe by telling the client you've declined but punter charging 50 quid a day less than you is on for it.) ... of course it may well be that you just didn't get the gig and the pimp can't be arsed to tell you straight, HTHBIDI.
