Face to face id check, copy of degree certificate, dividend frequency

Ok so it's been about 5 years since I last had a contract through an agency (been fortunate with some direct contracts) and I know things have moved on a bit but really? Is it now normal for an agent to ask for things like:

    Face to face id check.
Copy of A level and degree certificates (from 27 years ago!)
To know how often I take dividends.
Agreeing to notify them before I make any change to shareholding/directors.

(The end client is not financial or public sector.)

All normal checks nowadays regulations are getting tighter. I would only agree however if I had the contract subject to those checks. Some agents ask before you get the contract as pre-screening those I would tell to FOAD!!

Sounds like a load of rubbish if you ask me.

Agents wanting to meet up face to face before they put you forward for a job are almost always a wind up in my opinion. Usually an imaginary job used as a fishing exercise.

This is post interview and verbal offer, and before written contract which they'll only pass my way after all these checks are done.

            Two references as well?

            1 - maybe
2 - possible, but certainly only the degree. A levels they can GTFO
3 - none of their business or "whenever the management board deem appropriate"
4 - none of their business

He did mention a client here so he could be further on than that. He does specifically say face to face ID check. The check must be carried out so there is no argument about the identity of the person so this best way is to be there with your passport. Most of the agents I've been with have asked for this but there are other methods if you can't make it in. The Post Office offers a service as do solicitors. The F2F bit could be legitimate as part of their due diligence. I don't think this applies just to financial and PS roles.

Face to face ID check - They've done things wrong in the past.

A level and degree certificates - I've had to give my degree certificates out twice. Last time I told them to bug off as the job spec didn't require a degree.

Dividends - None of their business

Directors - They can look it up at Companies House. They can say that you must be a Director during the duration of the engagement but other things are none of their business.

Shareholders - None of their business.

Prior to job offer - f00k off. Post job offer :-

                  1. Agreed - at most expensive restaurant I can find. Better still, at a CUK meet up when they buy drinks all night.
                  2. Fine
                  3. I will tell them what they want to hear.
                  4. Fine. Then I will forget.

Alright I'll have a go at this response game.. If it's a gig I am genuinely interested in.

Face to face id check. - No probs. 10 mins at post office if I can't get to agent.
Copy of A level and degree certificates (from 27 years ago!) - No probs. Got all this in a file to hand. 2 mins work.
To know how often I take dividends. - It depends. As and when need be. No specific timescales. Sorted
Agreeing to notify them before I make any change to shareholding/directors. - Yep no probs. It's highly unlikely to change and even if it does no biggie. Do I tell them if it does? Dunno, will deal with that if it does.

20 min trip to post office. 5 minutes answering the mail and I've got the gig... Hardly the worst hoops to jump though.

Wish I was as well off as you lot that can afford to turn down a gig cause they don't want to answer a couple of pointless questions.
