    Wow, that's staggering.

My impression of SAP roles that I see posted are that they are niche, leading me to presume posting it on Jobserve is the last throw of an agent's dice.

SAP roles used to be niche, then they embarked on a big training program about 8-10 years ago which led to a glut of trained but inexperienced consultants. This drove the daily rates down. Many of those guys then jumped to permiedom, which started to move the rates back up again.

(that's an aside to the real point...)

Most of the agents advertising on Jobserve are advertising other agents roles, or non-existent ones - i.e. trying to make themselves look busy or trying to get business that they aren't already talking to the client about.

      (note: I don't do SAP)

All my contract roles since 2003 have been through jobserve bar two where I returned to a previous client

          How to get a contract?

I have been contracting 17 years but always got roles by referral and not had gaps until last year. It just seem a total fake nightmare out there! Getting in first on Jobserve seems the only route in to me, but as people have said the service seems to have slowed up over the last few months? I have had 2 interview recently passed both, but then the job/requirement has moved to the right an unspecified amount of time... just driving me nuts... Any strategies for actually getting to a contract that exists? Thanks Andy.

Although the SAP resource pool has grown massively in the past 15 years, the SAP roles I see on Jobserve remain niche. I'm talking about something like "Flemish-speaking Finance consultant with knowledge of Belarus tax system".

For mainstream (AKA easily filled) contracts the general process is that the agent simply sources candidates from his database (whether directly or via referrals). No Jobserve ads necessary.

Though, reading this thread, it's clear there are agents out there who lack this level of sophistication.

There are also roles advertised for places where I would need to leave home on Sunday morning to get to the site and arrive back home 3am Sat morning.

Other job boards are available. If you put your CV on them and update them regularly then agents/clients will call or email you.

Set up a search on Jobserve. Create an RSS feed for it and use Feedly to push the results to you in real time.
I was an IPSE Consultative Council Member, until the BoD abolished it. I am not an IPSE Member, since they have no longer have any relevance to me, as an IT Contractor. Read my lips...I recommend QDOS for ALL your Insurance requirements (Contact me for a referral code).
