And to be fair even if it was, what difference does it make? If you need it you have to apply and supply everything required, it's out of your hands. I can only think anyone that needs to worry about the details of the process has something to hide. We get lots of questions about whether people will pass or not but this is the first long thread I can remember where we have had to try to unpick the process which does make you wonder.

You don't need to know what the process is. You supply the information asked for and then they check it out. If they decide you can be trusted and you meet the criteria then you get your clearance. If you don't, you don't. Simple as that. There are no grounds for appeal and you will not be told the reasons for any rejection.

The single most likely reason for failing to be granted clearance is that you lied on the application forms.

          Hi Nice But Dim,
Which application form you mean? The Job-Application form or SC clearance application form?

            Yes.

They just background check you so if you have dodgy finances then be very afraid....

An SC check involves credit referencing you, checking if you have a criminal record, looking at previous work references and anything else the vetting officer feels they need to look at for that particular role.

This last bit means no one except that particular vetting officer can say what parts of your background they need to look at specifically.

Asking loads of questions on a forum is not going give you any more information.

So keep asking stupid questions and expect this thread to be locked.

                  Both.

Lying on the SC form is going to get caught, and you'll not get the job. The SC check may flag up discrepancies from your application form (really, who uses a job application form as a contractor?) and you'll not get the job.

If you need SC, then they are checking that you are trustworthy. If you've lied to get the job, you probably aren't.
