    Compare the market

to September last year, or any other month for that matter and it's absolutely appalling (C#, WPF, London, Finance). It's more reminiscent of what I'd expect from December or January.

Yep its absoultely awful for months now as we discussed here recently. I do not see it changing much either anytime soon companies are only hiring if they have to for essential roles or headcount replacements. The agencies are feeling the squeeze as well but mainstream media is bypassing the slump as UK is doing "well" (if you call creating more zero hours or part time roles well that is!!). I have not seen it this bad since early 2008

Wasn't aware as I haven't really been looking. I've had a couple of calls today that look slightly promising so I guess I shouldn't be complaining :-(

I agree, the demand is terrible, but funnily enough there doesn't seem to be much supply either. Companies seem to be struggling to find contractors. Has everybody just fled the market?

Its is highs and lows, and changes each week. Overall it hasn't picked up greatly since the holiday season.

              totally agree, been pretty poor...

I took 6 months off this year and thought coming back in September would be ideal, turns out it's been a fair ol battle to secure a contract...

I am not looking forward to the next 15 years, and might jump back to permie.....
