(sigh) It's the client that's decided to interview more not the agent.

How do I take a 'thanks' off a post?

Treat it as though you've not got the gig, keep looking and this one may pleasantly surprise you.

Until you've signed contracts and started, you're still on the market.

if you phone the agent and pull yourself out to try and get a response all you will likely do is embarrass the agent who won't be running to you next time their best clients want someone with your skills for fear you pull another similar "taking of ball home".

You have to think of the other partners views, and proceed based on that to get the best outcome - not personal annoyance or how you feel.

Yes - I totally understand now. So, the reality is, I have no leverage except to try and line up interviews elsewhere right?

Yup. Remember it's a client supplier relationship. It's not permie land anymore where you are a potential long term asset to the company. They want the right guy to fulfil the task they need completing. They'll dither until they are happy that need is fulfilled. It's not personal, it's business. As a supplier you are at the mercy of the client and have very little leverage, even dropping rates to look more attractive doesn't work.

I think both of you have a point. I'll never know if it's the agent or client really. The agent might have known all along that there are other candidates, but chose to tell me what he did in order to keep me warm. Or, the client just blind sided the agent altogether. From my first convo with the agent, he insisted they were sole agents for that gig...

                    I get it... so basically,
                    1. Hope that my own interview went well and they're convinced I'm the guy
                    2. Don't wait around. Rather assume it's a no and chase up other leads
                    3. Don't take this too personally - whatever happens, happens!

Absolutely this!! Hit the nail on the head. Work on the basis until you are sitting at the clients desk on the first day you have nothing. You don't get paid on promises and potentials.

Also people get hung up about feedback from agents, both believing what they say which I dispelled a few posts ago and also get angry the agent doesn't give them feedback. If the agent wants you they will be all over you, if they don't then no amount of feedback will change anything.

Interview and move on. If a gig pops up happy days. If not you are already on to the next ones.

                      GL.
