I started looking for a new contract couple of weeks ago and had about 8-9 opportunities straight away where I was put forward. But other than one interview and couple of non-sense replies about job filled internally etc I haven't heard back on any others for last 2 weeks (now into third week) - I know the wait feels longer from where I sit but anyone else suffering from the lull?

Anyone else suffering from a holiday lull?

I have a desk full of odd roles at the moment - Oracle APEX, Ruby on Rails (FML, I hate recruiting for this), a Dynamics AX role that I have not even looked at properly yet, and a BA role that is paying awful money.
As well as this, a huge amount of CL1/Non-Medical Non-Clinical that I almost refuse to work on are currently sat there - I'll write something for you all to have a laugh at about this from the supplier PoV, if you would be interested to hear how much of a f*****g train wreck it is.
I guess what I'm getting at, is that I haven't seen a summer lull agency side, but not many of the "normal" roles that I normally fill either (.NET/SQL/Java/Infrastructure) - guess if you're in this space, you'll be seeing a slow time.
Also, as an Fyi - I only recruit in the North East/North Yorks, so this may be different elsewhere. -

It is usual for this time of year. Hiring managers, authorisers, sign-off merchants, gods, santa claus are all on holiday. Things usually pick up in September.
Sit back, enjoy the time off and wait for the right opportunity to come forward.Polishing a turd near you!!Comment

I am stuck in the same Banking in London rut. Its been quiet for months financial turmoil in the markets does not help hiring either as HR usually impose a temp hiring freeze.
But it should pick up in the next 2-3 weeks otherwise its probably not going to again this year for London Banking unless anything urgent comes up that's it as many banks are now hiring perm they know the job market is strong so refuse to hire contractors unless they have no choice whatsoever!Comment

The roles I have found in the Summer have tended to involve travel and not being well paid. Education was always a reasonable hunting ground but might have died off since BSF wound down.Comment

Am guessing by playing catch up you've not bothered to help with all the questionnaires to help with the cause either..
Or are you just trolling?'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!Comment
