Hiring freeze just before making offer

    Hi
Recently I managed to clear all rounds of interview however before they could make offer, a hiring freeze came into effect for 2 weeks to review head counts. They are aware that they may lose candidates but they are fine with that. Initially quite disappointed but again in market to find new contracts.Job market not looking good though- moving very slowly.

What do you think? Any chance of getting offer after 2 weeks-agency-resource solution- not promising a anything.

Head count review means justifying the resources they've got, new hires will be very difficult indeed.

I would forget about it and look for something new.
    I'm alright Jack

What he said, possible, but don't hold your breath, that sort of thing is usually the client being a tad short on budget.

Assume not a chance in hell and when they do it will be a pleasant surprise. Don't get hooked on non existent contracts. Move on as if it were dead and buried.

Is the market really that bad?

One bank in particular are notorious for it. I'd need record money to just apply to them again.

Ah yes, the ones that like to interview people prior to getting a role signed off .

The market might be quiet because of summer holidays. I commute on the M1 and traffic seems to have dropped to about half the normal level since the kids broke up. The car park at work actually has spaces, and the overflow car park is unused.

Had this happen to me at Tesco a while back I was meant to start in mid June and they had a hiring freeze till the beginning of July, like others have said assume the worse and look for something else if they come back to you after 2 weeks and you have nothing then it'll be a bonus.
