He hung up the phone in reaction to you potentially sounding like a pillock. Don't sound like a pillock. Easy.

He might have been on some angle to get information out of you, we will never know. Could have been a juicy dream gig.

LondonMac gave you the solution. If you'd said there yet, or I'd rather not say or something along those lines he might still have hung up but at least you will know it was because he was fishing.

Well, now you sound like a pillock to me.
In my culture, if you don't like what you are hearing you can't be rude doing business.
      What about in yours?

Oh, I forgot your lack of communications skills.

Not me that's just potentially lost a gig. Each to their own.

And you mention communication skills after this thread? :

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't exist

Does anyone actually do this? Sounds like a right old palaver. Its all a game getting a contract sometimes you win sometimes you lose. Agents have their tricks and you must repel them and play it just right to get what you want without losing the gig.

SueEllen is a big advocate of this as well but have to say it sounds like poppycock to me as well. If you are in a situation that resorts to you having to playback phone calls to an agent it's never going to end well. Get it right first time and just get on with it. If it was a tried and tested method of doing business it would be standard practice...

                    Trick: Copy'n'Paste Middleman

Just seen a potential contract pop up in my email from an agency.
Checking on Job boards, the contract is also listed by several different agencies.

Guessing the end company from the location and nature of the business I checked their web site; lo and behind the contract is listed 'word for word' as a temporary vacancy (along with other perm vacancies)..the agencies have just found this site and reposted the vacancy to job boards, I'm assuming unauthorised.

So much for 'recruitment relationship with end client' - cheeky, very cheeky.

Half tempted to copy'n'paste the ad on a board myself !
