Linkedin is the facebook of IT recruitment. Very useful phishing tool for recruitment agency workers but that's about it. Not much use for landing a decent role IME.

          I used to think that.

Then I got this role, direct, on the highest rate I've ever been on, 100% WFH, 2 1/2 years and counting - all through LinkedIn.

I guess it depends on what you class as a "decent role"

I've a feeling the bank's name has the word Scotland in it

Most of the time with these contracts you can work in an office local to you.

Glad it worked out for you. But I have heard of contractors who have had hideous experiences with agencies contacting HR & or their line managers whilst still in a contract which was a big surprise to the client that the contractor was looking at other roles!

Im not sure I even understand this post - my profile always has (Available $month) and yesterday I sent a message to my PM saying "Any news on the extension we spoke about because Im getting calls and its hard to say no with no paperwork

If more contractors acted like contractors we wouldn't have half the issues with perception that we do.

Why is their current role on linkedin or their CV?
