only if your partner doesn't work, you have virtually 0 savings and you want the joys of universal credit....
Contrib based means nothing to do with partners income. Savings have to be less than £16K I think.
And yes you can take the summer off and claim. As long as your ltd gives you a P45 and you tell job centre there is no work for your company. All perfectly allowable.
BUT, the law is you are looking for work and not sitting there doing nothing. They will ask you to prove this.
They wont ask you to take a job in tescos on the tills until you've been claiming for at least 3 months though. Thats the way it works - they will leave you alone to get on with it but will eventually expect you to lower your expectations.
