Turn up and do the job well. I tend to find contractors who try to get one over other contractors by unilaterally expanding their role or working every hour god sends tend to burn out.
On one contract I was on one contractor seemed to be in the office until nine or ten each night for no obvious reason as the rest of us barely had enough work to fill the day. Ended up getting a three month extension while the rest of us just went and got other contracts.
Hardly seemed worth it.Comment

Pull some absolute rabbits out of your hat just before expiry? Think of it as being like a normal job but where you're more easily sacked... make yourself unsackable!⭐️ Gold Star ContractorComment

It's entirely possible and likely that a contract that looks at the outset to be long term to have the project canned a few weeks later due to policy changes, just as possible that a 2 month role turns into 2 years.
Part of the contractor working model is the lack of certainty, if you can't accept that then you really shouldn't bother and stick to perm.Comment

Cojack posts confused me when he said "1) make sure you land a contract whose budget is big enough to cover your required extension."
I'm fine with the lack of uncertainty, contracting has given me a strong warchest.Comment

Sock drawer residency confirmed. Not convincing, not a clever persona and no comedy value.Comment
