Leaving after the Xmas break. Giving notice next Fri.
Absolutely the most miserable place I've had to work in. Will never work here again, not even at double the rate.
I feel your pain....
Why?
At least explain your reasoning so that we can all learn.
I have noticed that Lloyds find it hard to recruit talent. In my niche technical area they've had the same advert out for months through various agencies. It's a permie job and paying very low considering it's for a bank in the City (£50k) but at the same time they seem to ask for the Earth in return.
The other point I'll make is that I believe Wipro owns Lloyds' IT division. They obviously have their own agenda and typically it won't be in the bank's interest, but no doubt pockets are lined and politics are played.
Update - Met current task manager and challenged on withdrawal of interview in other Division. He fluffed about and its clear that he feels he 'owns' me. We've agreed once we have finished our negotiation on an extension that I will be free to approach other Division (!). Its clear there is an unwritten protocol not to 'poach' internally so there is a closed shop. Politics are rife for sure.
Non compete clause in contract is helpful point to check, cheers.
Overall, I think task manager has now weakened his position as he can see I had strong interest and at better rates / conditions from other areas / other co.'s.
Agree that going on bench after a year is to be avoided - this is all brinkmanship and negotiation.
PS
Why do people quickly jump to suggest I go permie. Sure I'm starting out and finding feet - but saying to go back to employees status isn't hugely helpful folks.
Holding post for when
You get zero notice to leave current position and other division lost all interest
Hiring manager phoned about a month ago and said I was getting a six month extension but asked what I'd do if the rate was cut by 15%. Told her I'd give notice and leave.
Agent phoned to confirm 15% rate cut so I put notice in and got a call from hiring manager saying "I'm a bit surprised by this !"
Well, you ******* shouldn't be. I told you half an hour ago what I'd do.
Anyone who accepts a rate cut is a dick. They only do it because there are plenty of dicks who'll accept it and moan on a forum instead.
LOL! They truely are bulltulipters at LBG \ LTSB. But come on, what did you say to the HM when they said your notice was a surprise? Did they think you were jesting being an ejit or just a greedy fecker?
I know loads of contractors and a fair few agencies who are pissed off with their crap attitude.

Anybody who makes a sweeping statement like that is a dick, especially if they are a tester as well.
The 10% rate cut at renewal I was told about this up front so upped my rate by 10% to start off with to factor it in, then I left after 6 months and didn't bother renewing as the place is just dead-wood

Strictly speaking, you should have upped your initial rate by 11.11%, not 10%, to allow a 10% cut to bring you back to your expected day rate.
