The client don't know all this is going on. They outsourced their screening.

Anyway, we're getting too much away from my original question now.

I was just wondering, if you had evidence of misconduct or misrepresentation by your agent, if you can simply dis-instruct them?

You haven't got the role, so accept the fact and move on? This is the business risk that you undertake as a Professional Contracting Business. You are not a permie and have not gained any rights as one.

Your energies are better spent in moving forwards rather than backwards.

It is the Agent's offer. They are the broker in this situation and as such can choose who they trade with. They were probably trying to be polite and let you down gently.

In answer to your original question, I have seen and heard of many agents being sacked. I am saving the tales for my Autobiography though.

If you mean "what does it take for an agent to get sacked", then you'd need to ask their employer.

If you mean " what does it take for a client to terminate their contractual relationship with an agent ", then you'd need to ask the client for details of their contract.

You don't need any evidence of anything. Unless you have a contract saying otherwise, you can terminate your relationship with the agency at any stage.

You may find that if the agency has presented you to the client, there will be a contract between client and agency which means the client has to use them, though.
