What would you do, wait until the day after we leave the EU?Originally posted by Old Greg View Post£100,000,000 is a lot to spend on a 1 in 1,000,000 probability event.
Think of it as adding weight to our negotiations with the EU. Because make no bones about it, we will be leaving.Comment

If it is a 1 in a million chance, then it is a waste of public money.Originally posted by Zigenare View PostWhat would you do, wait until the day after we leave the EU?

Shouldn't have to spend anything because apparently, regardless of what type of deal, Brexit will all be sunny uplands and everyone will be much better off and the country will be glorious or was that all bulltulip?Originally posted by Zigenare View PostWhat would you do, wait until the day after we leave the EU?

We are preparing to leave the EU. If the only way of leaving is without a deal and it costs £100s of millions to prepare effectively for that event then it is worth spending.Originally posted by Old Greg View PostIf it is a 1 in a million chance, then it is a waste of public money.
The EU needs to see that we are serious about leaving and to prove that we are willing to leave without a deal then we must be seen to be making sufficient preparation.Comment

But there is only a 1 in a million chance of a No Deal, so why spend money on it? Is it an elaborate bluff to convince the EU that it is much more likely than 1 in a million?Originally posted by Zigenare View PostWe are preparing to leave the EU. The reason the uk will be better off is due to freedom from the eu. Preparation is required to reap the benefits.Originally posted by darmstadt View PostShouldn't have to spend anything because apparently, regardless of what type of deal, Brexit will all be sunny uplands and everyone will be much better off and the country will be glorious or was that all bulltulip?Comment

And in your dream, what happens next? The EU says we are serious about leaving, but we have no plan and no desire to make a deal with them, and we go.
In the EU's eyes, so what?
It makes no difference to them. For 3 years we've been saying we're leaving.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment

Point of order: the £100m is just for advertising.Originally posted by Zigenare View PostWe are preparing to leave the EU. If the only way of leaving is without a deal and it costs £100s of millions to prepare effectively for that event then it is worth spending.

To prepare effectively is going to cost a hell of a lot more than that.Comment
