    Ironing, much?

Any French President who even thinks of reforming the CAP isn't going to be French President for much longer. The French might think to get their own food standards in order before lecturing the rest of us.

If you are fooled by all that "we have a say in everything" crap, then you are either an eternal optimist or clinically delusional. Normally I am more measured, as you say, but reading what amounts to a constitution for a fledgling superstate, which none of us wants or will ever have the chance to vote for or against, I feel we are all about to be victims of the biggest scam in our lifetimes.

Almost certainly, but probably not for the next 15 years, and not until there's a favourable change of government. The EU will, by then, need a large influx of cheap labour, and the alternatives (Ukraine & Belarus) are a bit too likely to get up the noses of the Russians. The EU is running out of expansion options, and Turkey might just turn out to be the least-worst option.

If he didn’t advocate reforming it, you’d moan and complain.

You Brexited my question. Let me ask again: Do you think it is wrong of a politician to want to do the right thing?

They should already be there by now.

I didn't moan and complain, I laughed at his political suicide note. Although he wouldn't be the first French President to say one thing and quietly do something completely different.

If you think Macron is going to "do the right thing", you're mad. Hell will freeze over before a French politician really tries to reform the CAP, as well you know. So we both know he's talking bollocks, I wouldn't say he's "wrong", I'd say he was "disingenuous".

Low end manufacturing. You know the stuff anyone can do.
