Think they will just let their food rot? Thousands of farmers go bust?

So, pray, what do you think might happen? The EU will just tell all the customs people to pretend nothing has happenned? Just carry on as before? Is that really what you think? The UK is suddenly free to do whatever it wants, import dodgy stuff from anywhere, repackage it and drive it into the carefully developed EU Market? Treat its people badly and undercut the EU's social structure. Do you really think they will ignore all this? Because if you don't, then please enlighten us as to what exactly they might do

[I was only saying that for effect. We all realise you Brexiteers have a pathological hatred of detail, facts, evidence etc...]

Actually yes. How long do you think it will take the French to install a hard border and hire/train an army of customs stalf? All while Paris burns.

You lot think the EU are supermen, I've lived amoung them - they are impotent.

        The EU is not Europe.

They already have a hard border, it’s called the Channel. Calais alone are already hiring 200 additional customs officers.

Nobody has said that they are supermen.

Calais have already said that they would wave transports through to the U.K. side, so exports from the EU (including relevant documentation and immigration searches) are not their problem. Imports are another matter.

You seem to agree that there will be barriers to trade and increased friction, but your solution to it is to ignore it all?

The EU can't make Brexit easy for us, there are excruciating levels of dissent amongst their ranks as it is.

Any way out is going to take balls, bravado and winging it. Quite a bit of pain as well I can see you boys aren't up for it though.

Now they need to make a moral virtue of struggle and poverty, all in the name of a sovereignty that the UK already has. Still it's perfect cover for Jacob and chums to make out like bandits at the expense of the British working and middle classes.
